I was born in Olathe, Kansas. I have been married for 17 years to my husband, Keith Anderson. Together we have one daughter, Allison; 11, and one son, Brandyn; 8. My husband’s job relocated our family to Tennessee in February 2002. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Mid America Nazarene University in 1999. In April of 2010, I completed my Master of Science in Education degree, with a specialization in Integrating Technology in the Classroom. I have been a practicing Christian for twenty-eight years. I am currently a member of Fullview Missionary Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee. While serving as a member of this church I have held the position of president of the youth choir, and currently serve as a member of the mass choir.
My Philosophy of Teaching
It is my belief that every child can succeed and reach the academic goals and standards established within the curriculum. However, in order to achieve this each child must be viewed as an individual and provided flexible instruction, techniques, and strategies to meet their particular learning needs. It is also imperative to have support from the home to ensure each child’s academic success.I believe that the teacher’s role is to continuously keep abreast of the latest best practices, strategies, and techniques to provide optimal learning to all students in today’s diverse classroom. By continuing to grow in my profession I will continue to provide my students with multiple means of representation, expression, and engagement within their learning. In addition to providing optimal learning to all students, I believe it is equally important to prepare them socially, behaviorally, and morally to handle issues within and outside of the classroom. Ultimately, it is my desire to educate the students in my classroom in a manner that instills in them what is needed to become successful, motivated, goal-oriented, productive citizens of the community in which they live.
